Anybody here familiar with this? I'm listening to it now, and it's not too bad. For those unfamiliar:

Frameshift is a studio project Progressive Rock outfit. They seem to enroll vocalist for each album, with the first one, Unweaving The Rainbow, having the Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie handling the voice. Don't bother asking for who the musicians are, as chances are you have never heard of these guys.

The album with Bach is called An Absence of Empathy. The musicianship is outstanding, but quite Prog Metal. Vocally, not being a Bach fan I can't really compare, but those that are fans are calling this his best work vocally yet. I will admit that he does really stand-out on this thing.

If you're a Bach fan and have been dying to hear him REALLY give his voice a workout in a ROCK style again (since Broadway was his thing for a bit), you might want to check this out.

Hey Carl, I haven't heard any of it yet. Sounds interesting. I did see a couple of vid clips of them recording in the studio.

Here's an interesting sidebar. Apparently Bach felt he got slighted on the writing credits and their was a bit of a debacle about it a few months back.

Here's Bach's take on it.

I guess I would give it pretty high marks, considering:

1. I am not a fan of Bach
2. I am sick to death of Progressive Rock
3. I have never liked Progressive Metal
4. I listened to this and thought to myself "hey, this is pretty good stuff".

So if you like any of the things I said I don't like or I am sick of, then this should be a "winner" to you.

Here are the two songs that Bach mentions in the end of the letter on his site, "Blade" and "In an empty room". "Blade" is 9+ minutes long, by the way. Gotta love Prog Rock.

Carl, thanks...checked out the two songs. Hmmm....Not really my thing, but can appreciate the musicianship. Bach sounds better to me on the first Skid Row CD. I loved the wailing death scream he did in that I'll remember you song, the one right near the end.
